Couple charged with abandoning 7 year old son in derelict office

Garlon Duane Lingard and Renee Lingard were arrested in Rusk County facing second degree felony counts for abandoning and endangering a child after deputies found a 7-year-old boy living in a vacant office building with his dog. The boy claimed to reside there as deputies arrived to serve a writ of possession. The building reeked with filth and waste.

Heavy rains flood Coastal Bend and linger in waterlogged streets
