Armendariz was home at the times alleged for a fatal shooting. Ex-wife testified she left their daughter with him around 7 p.m. and picked up at 11:30 p.m. Barrientes claimed Armendariz later went to his sister’s home and had a .22 pistol. The gun, sold for 70 dollars, ended in Juarez, Mexico. Police tracked it down after a Crime Stoppers tip. A DPS examiner could not definitively connect bullets to the pistol.

State tax law framed as corporate income tax hits revenue targets
Allen notes the 18 tax resembles a corporate income tax though not labeled so. Reynolds says law designed to raise revenue targeting service businesses and richer firms. Walter projects $839 million in 1992 and $1.2 billion in 1993, up from $539 million in 1990, with a higher threshold reducing filers from 300,000 to 150,000. The article cites perks for small debts under $100 and discusses taxpayer remarks on wealth and state policy.
