Lifeguards at Odessa College Sherwood Park Aquatic Center University of Texas of the Permian Basin and YMCA offer swimming lessons with daily training drills. Laura Springer an 18 year old first year guard says the training is thorough and sometimes dramatic as guards practice rescuing dummies from the pool bottom. She adds the job has perks including swimming breaks and a tan.
