Donated organ and Steinway piano boost UTPB music program
A former church organ and a Steinway piano were donated to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin Music Program by Immanuel Baptist Church. The organ had sat unused, and the piano will aid expanding lessons and performances at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center. Debbie Butler noted students often seek organ skills for funerals and weddings, and that piano proficiency is needed to teach organ. Grover, who helped fund the Wagner Noel center, arranged the Steinway donation. The instruments arrive as the music department gains four extra practice rooms and additional spaces in a new building.
