Ector County Commissioners vote to hold a November election creating the Ector County Assistance District. If approved, a 1.25 cent sales tax would fund roads fire and rescue and law enforcement across most of Ector County excluding Odessa and Goldsmith, with voters in the district eligible to decide.

Oncor Electric Delivery Co and Sharyland Utilities LP announce an asset swap that shifts Sharyland’s retail customers and distribution network to Oncor in exchange for about 258 miles of 345 kilovolt transmission lines in West and Central Texas valued around 400 million dollars. The deal aims to lower Sharyland customers’ rates and requires Texas Public Utility Commission approval later this year.
Ohio based Fairmount Santrol announces a 40 year lease on about 3250 acres near Kermit Texas to build a frac sand mine capable of about 3 million tons per year. The project targets a 2018 second quarter start with reserves of 165 million tons of fine grade sand 40 70 and 100 mesh. {Note: omit} Sand plants spread along dunes north of Kermit toward Crane as oilfield firms seek higher production.
