Tanker crash and blast closes ramp injures two
An 11,000 gallon jet fuel tanker overturned on an I 95 off ramp in Warwick Rhode Island and exploded injuring both drivers. Firefighters reported 50 to 60 foot flames buckling an overpass with a fuel spill into the Pawtuxet River.

Driver hits bus while reaching for ringing phone
In Kansas City a driver ran a red light reaching for a ringing cell phone and struck a bus. A rider was hospitalized in fair condition, while the driver and two passengers had minor injuries. No charges were filed. A 1997 study noted cell phone use while driving increases crash risk.

Teens given life for homeless man killing in Flint
In Flint Michigan three teens Mark A. Gonzalez 16 Ryan A. Kendrick 17 and Michael D. Worden 16 were sentenced to life in prison for the 1999 beating death of 34 year old Mark Harris. Harris was killed with boards sticks and bricks in a debris filled trailer behind a doughnut shop. A fourth teen pleaded guilty to murder and awaits sentencing.
