State and defense test in 2013 shootout trial
In Judge John Smiths 161st District Court prosecutors and defense counsel wrapped up a Tuesday session for Cameron Anthony Marson, 37, charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant after a Oct. 25, 2013 chase and shootout with deputies and troopers. The trial resumes today at 9 a.m. Marson and David Baca allegedly hijacked a vehicle, fired on officers near the Ector Andrews county line, and prompted a high‑speed pursuit that ended with Baca paralyzed and later convicted. Marson had pleaded guilty previously in Andrews County to related counts and received 25 years on each. Prosecution by Melissa Williams and Amanda Navarette. defense by Josh Stephens.
