County learns 50 year water plan to cost 6000 for county
A regional planning board chair told county commissioners that a state mandated water conservation study spanning the next 50 years will cost Ector County about six thousand dollars. The statewide effort, under Senate Bill 1, is funded by the state and Colorado Municipal Water District with 14 of 32 Region F counties already on board.

Steven Edwards, 30, of Macy Nebraska, was stabbed about 93 times with a chain link shank at Wackenhut Lea County Correctional Facility in Hobbs New Mexico on Christmas morning. Officials say another inmate aided the attack with a third serving as lookout. Edwards survived after more than 90 puncture wounds. Bodies recovered of two sailors after Galveston blaze
In Galveston, firefighters found the bodies of two Greek sailors in the engine room of the cargo vessel Violetta, which burst into flames while anchored at the mouth of Galveston Bay. Twenty three crew members, including Filipinos and Greeks, were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard as fire crews continued battling the blaze aboard the 587 foot freighter.

DPS launches Operation Motorcide for New Year holiday
