Dye test helps uncover hidden child sex abuse cases
In Baltimore, researchers Dr. Jeanne McCauley and Dr. Richard L. Gorman report a simple dye test applied to external vaginal tissue within 48 hours of an incident triples detection of tissue lacerations. The study, involving 48 children and 11 to 18 year olds, found rising positive results among suspected abuse cases, with overall detection increasing from 10.2 percent to 30.5 percent. The test, inexpensive and easy to use, stains cell nuclei and highlights skin breaks, though it has not yet been adopted in city cases pending further documentation.

Relatives said the remaining prisoners face tighter restrictions and monitored mail. In Kansas a teen died in a Christmas Eve car dealership explosion and police found an unexploded pipe bomb. In Las Vegas a man killed his ex wife after wounding three others before taking his own life.
