IRAS Survey To Definedly Map Solar System Objects
NASA will publish the final IRAS asteroid and comet survey catalog listing 35618 unidentified objects from the 1983 infrared sky survey. Scientists expect decades of work to distinguish new asteroids and comets from known bodies, with estimates of about 100 asteroids and 6 to 12 comets likely to be new discoveries.

Blackbirds foil destruction plan in Tupelo
In Tupelo Mississippi AP reported that city officials planned to wipe out millions of roaming blackbirds by helicopter spraying to remove oil with detergent and using fire trucks to freeze them with cold water. The plan stalled as birds spread over 23 acres and officials consider cutting cedar roosting trees. Nearly 2 million birds returned this year with up to a million more expected by January raising health concerns about histoplasmosis.
