Groundwater District UK export plan debated in Pecos County
The Middle Pecos Groundwater District discussed exporting brackish water from the San Andres formation for municipal and industrial use. The eight-member board approved about 5,000 acre feet per day for STW Resources with conditions, far less than requested, citing lack of hydrogeological data and local opposition. Officials warned of long term water shortages and the need for future strategies.
