Ex-UT players quit Longhorn basketball thinning roster
AUSTIN AP Two more Texas Longhorn basketball players have quit the squad leaving eight healthy scholarship players, five of them freshmen. Senior forward Don Ellis and freshman guard Mike Hess left the team as part of a continuing departure pattern since Bob Weltlich became coach in 1982. Ellis and Hess join a string of exits that started after Lemons was replaced and follow the loss of Bill Wendlandt as the program struggles during rebuilding. Ellis expressed no regret about Texas but suggested he might have fared better under Lemons.

Brown named AL president in 1975 after Rangers stint
