Donations of $5,000 each from two Odessa physicians pushed the Empty Stocking Fund beyond its $40,000 goal. Anu and Ravi Vemuru of Permian Gastroenterology donated anonymously after a story of an Odessa family helped by the fund last year. The daily total reached $10,660, lifting the fund to $40,143.60 with two days left in the drive. The fund, run by the Odessa American and The Salvation Army, provides food, clothing and toys for needy Odessa families.
