Orchid find ends delay on Texas 6 expansion plan
The Interior Department approved a 50 million highway widening project from College Station to Navasota after broader surveys found 5500 Navasota Ladies Tresses orchids rather than 150. The plan preserves seven acres of the 33-acre habitat, transplants 50 plants, and resumes work on the route with monitoring by the Texas Department of Highways.
