UTPB Consort Singers host holiday madrigals
In 1979 two young faculty members at the University of Texas at the Permian Basin built a Renaissance program. Dr. Stan Engebretson and Dr. Craig Lister led the Permian Consort and University Singers in three madrigal dinners in Odessa, blending 17th and 18th century music with a continental dinner. The performances featured period costumes, diverse compositions, and high standards, drawing growing local interest and highlighting the ensembles in Houston's Texas Renaissance Festival.
