Williams defers STAAR impact on grades for 2013 14
Texas Education Commissioner Michael Williams announced a continued suspension of the 15 percent rule counting STAAR test scores toward final grades for core courses through the 2013 2014 school year. Gov Perry and Lt Gov Dewhurst backed leaving application to local districts. The decision followed praise at an Austin conference and comes as graduation data showed Texas tied for third in on time rates for the class of 2010. Students still must take STAAR and meet graduation standards later.
