Gunman kills four near church in small town
A gunman killed four people near the Sash Assembly of God church and then himself after a nine hour standoff with police. Freddie Cranshaw, 54, lived across from the church and after an initial confrontation with a member, shot Wes Brown and pastor James Armstrong in the church parking lot. He later shot at a truck with a horse trailer, killing Ceri Litterio and Holly Love Brown as they tried to flee. Deputies found the two victims dead and Cranshaw dead at the scene. Brown, 50, of Greenville, was not related to Wes Brown. Investigators say the shootings appeared random and occurred outside the church and nearby locations.
