The commissioners scheduled a public hearing on the proposed tax rate for the 2005-06 fiscal year. The hearing will begin at Nam on Thursday at the Commissioners Court in the Ector County Annex located at 1010 E Eighth St.
Ector County Sheriff Mark Donaldson urged a 5 percent raise for more than 100 county deputies as the commissioners debated. After a 2.5 hour discussion, officials approved a 3 percent raise for all county employees, with Gardner seeking an extra 5 percent for the targeted deputies.
