Wall Street, Hospitals Struck by Prolonged Blackout in NYC
A weeklong blackout in lower Manhattan disrupted Wall Street and major markets. Nurses manually operated respirators for 14 patients at Beekman Downtown Hospital as generators were brought in. Con Ed reported 1,600 customers affected and 2,000 workers repairing cables in a 38 block zone.
