Jupiter sized planet found by McDonald Observatory team
Astronomers led by William Cochran report a planet orbiting Epsilon Eridani, about 10.5 light years away. The Jovian world weighs roughly 1.6 times Jupiter’s mass and completes an orbit every seven years, making it the nearest true Jupiter-like planet outside our solar system. The discovery used data from McDonald Observatory and other facilities.
