Trustees grant Fuller power amid faculty pushback

Trustees at their June meeting granted President Fuller bylaw authority to allocate and reallocate faculty positions despite faculty opposition and student fund concerns. They deferred the second bylaw revision granting veto power over personnel decisions while disbanding GovCom and forming a broadly based General Faculty committee to solicit input from all groups. Faculty and early critics blamed the move for undermining faculty input and students suffered no explicit representation, as Fuller signaled active use of the powers with consultation with faculty councils.
