Y W C A Fund Drive Energized By Student Canvass

An enthusiastic campaign on Tuesday secured pledges totaling 148.50 from matron supporters, faculty women, and students. At a Wednesday banquet hosted by Methodist church ladies, a drive by forty five canvassers raised 400.11 with help from speeches by Mrs. Miller Ma Henderson and Florence Nichol Con. The team then pushed into the city, canvassing after chapel, with a buffet luncheon on Friday boosting morale and momentum for the effort led by Turner of Seminary and gridiron fame.

College women urged to join YW movement at Oberlin

Miss Molly Lindsay led Oberlin College women in a YWCA membership meeting Sunday night urging new girls to join the association. She said YWCA stands for the highest and best in everyday life. The class games were canceled Monday due to rain.

Youngstown Match Ends 12-6 as Oberlin Academy Prevails

Oberlin Academy defeated South High 12 to 6 in a Saturday Youngstown game. Kowal blocked a forward pass and fell on the ball near the end zone. Hudson Dudley and Johnson starred for their teams with Edwards making key changes. several new players showed promise.

Saturday's Campus Celebration Sparks Stunts and Talks

Saturday's festivities on campus included a bonfire kindled by freshmen in the plaza, a men’s building program featuring a lively stunt display, Dean Miller recounting summer experiences, and Professor Sherman cautioning on football game rowdiness. Sherwood Moran staged a dynamic lobby dance while F K Drewry delivered a negro dialect reading. The band performed college and patriotic songs between readings and a fort of leather chairs provided comfort as the crowd left pleased.

Freshman Class Distinction Incident at Star Kes Hall

After most freshmen left Star Kes Hall yesterday morning, sophomores suspected a freshman vote on a class distinction. A groan led to a hidden prank near the piano where a freshman group burst into laughter. The plan unraveled when the 1917 president freed the prisoner as three burly sophomores stood watch outside for safety. Inside, the sophomores had little information on the freshman class duece and Y M C A campaign results remained unascertained.

Arrangements for Case Ga Football Ticket Sales

Arrangements are made for Case Ga football tickets with sales starting Tuesday afternoon. General admission is $1.00, season-ticket holders may buy 50 cent general admissions with a Case coupon. Grandstand seats 50 cents. specific sections priced at 26 cents. Tickets sold at Peters Hall and local bookshop. Special train service planned from Oberlin to Cleveland with return options. All 12 o'clock classes will be omitted next Saturday, with 10 o'clock classes as usual.

Successful Rally For Ohio State Game

Oberlin students packed the Men's Building lobby Friday night for a State game rally. Russell Jellife led cheers as Dean Miller prophesied State’s defeat, noting Oberlin had not been defeated on Dillfield since 1908. Erling Theller spoke for the seniors promising a state victory next day. Coach Met tall commented on the ram condition, manager Spore kept the crowd laughing. this was the biggest rally of the year.
