Students Protest Dean's Dorm Ruling

More than 200 students staged a sit in in the main lounge on Wednesday night to protest Dean Bernard Adams and the college's decision to bar men from women’s lounges. Organizers led by Mike Fiz said the penalty and lounge closures violated the spirit and letter of the college’s rules. The dean arrived at 11 pm and refused to back down, stating the issue was minor, while protesters urged enforcement reform and questioned the old lounge policy.

King and Rusk to receive honorary degrees at commencement

Dr Martin Luther King Jr president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference will be a principal speaker at the next month's commencement exercises and Dean Rusk Secretary of State will receive honorary Doctor of Law degrees along with six other Americans. King will deliver the commencement address on Monday June 1 and receive the Doctor of Humane Letters. Rusk and others to get honorary Law degrees. King has won the Nobel Peace Prize and led the civil rights movement since 1955.

Men's Board Proposes Nondiscrimination Pledge for Off-Campus Housing

The Penn State Men's Board on Tuesday urged the Dean of Men to require off-campus housing owners to sign a pledge to board non-discriminately based on race or religion. The plan, aimed at colleges standards, would take effect in fall 1966. owners denied discrimination in a written statement.
