Commissioner Nash Resigns Post Discusses Indian Needs

Commissioner Nash of the Bureau of Indian Affairs resigned effective March 18 as announced by John A. Carver acting Secretary of the Interior. He plans a lecture tour in India under the American Specialist Exchange Program and called for more personal contact to aid American Indians. He noted many still live on reservations and urged returning Indians to help peers despite risks and failures.

March 28 elections for Student Senate seat candidates will open. Interested runners must give their names to Mike Grannon by midnight March. A meeting for all candidates is scheduled March 19. Seniors Win Wilson National Fellowship Honors

Seventeen Averlin College seniors were named graduate fellowships by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation at yesterday’s assembly. Nationally, 1,408 fellows from 300 colleges were chosen, with 26 honorable mentions. Awards cover one year of graduate education and a $2,000 stipend. total awards this year reached $57 million. Seventeen named fellows include Cary Bloch, David Blodgett, Phyllis Blum, Barbara Beese, Kathleen Lamwo, and Peter Way.
