Oberlin Victory Narrow Reserve Contest in Close Game

Oberlin edged Reserve 26 to 19 in a hard fought reserve contest. Key contributors included Thellar DeGroft and Cy scoring for Oberlin while Reserve showcased teamwork with Thellar DeGroft and Stroup adding baskets and free throws. Theox effort featured strong defense and a second-half surge by Reserve.

Sophomore Oratorical Contest Winners Named

First place Phi Delta's Grover Clark, second Luther Gulick of Phi Kappa, and third C. W. Dipman of Alpha Zeta dominated the assembly room event. Speakers from three men s societies presented addresses on social and political themes amid some confusion and crowd activity.

General Men's Sing Friday at NNC Auditorium

A male chorus gathering will be staged Friday night at 9 in the Men's Build auditorium. The event, led by Mr. Wickler with the Glee Club, aims to warm up for upcoming spring sings and follows a debate rally.

Men Senate Debates Honor System Extension

Friday night the Men’s Senate debated extending the honor system beyond its current scope. By majority vote the senate decided to extend it, with a committee including Donald Kin, Carl Slocum, and Carroll Roberts working on plans.

There are still a few seats remaining for the basketball game with Ohio State in March. Purchases can be made by mail or by calling Mr. George M. Jones. Likely only standing room will be left on game day.

Howard Calvert Chosen to Manage 1914 Annual

In Peters Hall the Sophomore class elected Howard Calvert to assist the business manager of the 1914 ALCHi annual, aiming for the manager post when published by the class of 1914. James Carter reported finance committee results, and a ten member nominating committee will soon be formed to fill remaining HiO-Hoard offices. Dean Miller will teach at Ohio State summer school and Professor Geleer at the Minots session.

Summer session to offer large number of courses

The 1912 summer school announces a broadened program with nineteen instructors, forty five courses, and two hundred five credit hours up from last year. Most teachers come from Oberlin College with two outside hires, including Herman Henderson and Atkinson. New music offerings, expanded English and history courses, and a dean of women, Miss Doerschuk, accompany higher tuition and revised credit rules.

Williams Attends St Louis Conferences and Updates

Mr Williams travels to St Louis for meetings of the United States Commission on Education, a conference on educational measurement and science management in colleges. He will join the Reloun Beton Nation reading a paper, with sessions at Oberlin College associations in St Louis and Kansas City. Society Secretaries Prepare for Mock Republican Convention

Intersociety secretaries draft plans for the quadrennial mock convention of the Republican party. Past mock conventions dominated their party’s nominee, and some say clearer political skies before June are needed for success this year. Secretaries solicit useful suggestions and will announce committee appointments soon.

Schedules for baseball and football published

The spring baseball schedule lists six home games and opens with Baldwin University on April 20. Athletic relations with Ohio Wesleyan are renewed. Wesleyan visits Oberlin June 10 for baseball and October 19 for football. Home football foes include Heidelberg, Wittenberg, Ohio Wesleyan, Wooster, and Case.

W C Neuenschwander writes from a remote Far North Saskatchewan River area about bitter weather, noting 58 below zero and early November sleighing. He teaches in the common school and conducts evangelist work, about 800 miles north of the Oberlin latitude.
