Center Installs New Computer At College
The Louges new 260/80 computer in the physics building began operation on Feb. 18. It promises up to tenfold speed over the old TBM 1620, with an 360/30 mode two and a half times faster in the 1620 mode. The center rents the machine at an estimated value of 280000, and a separate memory bank was installed. Robert Bushnell, director, notes operators will need time to learn the new system and a full switch-over is planned for this summer.
