Reunion of Dickinson House alumni notes military ties

Forty eight men and women from classes 0 to 28 gathered for a Dickinson House reunion. The event featured a dinner at the Park house, an informal social hour, and a program with reminiscences from alumni with military service. Overseas veterans Ensign Williams Beeman Davis and others spoke, while active duty members could not attend due to duties.

Millikan to Speak on Americas Achievement and Opportunity

Colonel Robert A Millikan of Chicago a noted physicist renowned for atomic theory and wartime research will address the college on Washingtons Birthday at Finney Memorial chapel at 10 20 am The program includes special music by the Conservatory orchestra and the mens Glee Club about Americas accomplishments and opportunities in science research with references to naval antisubmarine work and army meteorological services.

Philadelphia Orchestra Presents Beethoven Fifth Insightful Tribute

The faculty invites all to a Washington's Birthday reception in the Men's building from 1:30 to 9:30 pm. Leopold Stokowski leads the Philadelphia Orchestra in an artistically celbrated Beethoven cycle starting with Symphony No.5 in C minor, plus overture and works by Chabrier and Debussy. The event marks a meaningful crossroad in music showing universality of Beethoven's art amid postwar repertoires.

Oberlin Crushes Reserve 80 to 18 in Conference Tilt

Oberlin outplayed the Reserve team at home, 80 to 18, with Landis scoring six baskets and Henderson strong inside. The Crimson and Gold raced to a 16 to 10 lead and built a commanding margin as Oberlin’s speed and teamwork overwhelmed the visitors.

Aurry Emerson Fosdick to Open Week of Prayer

Aurry Emerson Fosdick professor at Union Theological Seminary and author of The Meaning of Prayer will open the Week of Prayer for Obertin in Finney Chapel on Wednesday February 26 at 7 30 PM. The next day Mr Fosdick will speak again with other events following as part of the observance led by the YWCA and associated groups.

Secretary’s Letter Recalls King Remarks for America

Secretary Jones recalled a recent letter from President King signaling support for America. The note states King will be in New York on May 1 and has agreed to deliver the commencement address in June at the Y. M. C. A. division meeting held last Sunday.

Solder Parade Welcomes Lorain County Men Home

Lorain county’s 329th Infantry unit, recently returned from duty at Camp Sherman, Chilgo, passed through Oberlin for a half hour parade. Practically the entire town turned out to greet the soldier boys as classes were dismissed and a water works whistle signaled the start. The Wellington car bearing the 829th Infantry arrived at 10:36, followed by parade units and citizens. The men reboarded for Elyria at 11:12 a.m.
