Freshman and Senior Housing Rules Adjusted by Women’s Board

The Women's Board, led by WSGL president Carol Kemper, announced partial reforms to the women’s housing system. New limits set freshmen to 12 persons on Saturdays 4:80 on other nights and two 10 person weeks. unlimited library permissions until 9:30. six late extensions per week. Second semester freshmen unchanged. sophomores and juniors see no change. seniors retain 11 per night, 12 on Saturdays, 12 late extensions per semester. Three additional proposals await House Directors’ discussion before final action. new rules to take effect soon after next semester starts.

Dr Moulton to Retire After 23 Years Service

Dr Gertrude E Moulton head of the physical education department will retire from active teaching in September after 23 years of service. She may pursue further educational work at a small college or the Mid Western Association of Health Physical Education and Recreation, where she is president elect. Moulton earned an A B degree from Oberlin in 1903 and did graduate work at Rio Grande College University of Illinois New York University Western Reserve Harvard and Columbia.

Oberlin Finney Chapel Service Flag honors 3101 veterans

A Finney Chapel service flag lists 3101 Oberlin alumni serving or honored in the armed forces. The February 1 tally includes seven POWs and nine missing, with 28 casualties and 79 discharged removed from records on January 1. The roster, started March 1988, tracks active service and fatalities with blue and gold stars.

Cleveland Orchestra Plans Related Concert at Finney Chapel

The Cleveland Orchestra under Vladimir Golschmann will present its second concert of the semester in Finney Chapel next Monday at 7 30 p m replacing the January 30 program No 9 in the ticket series The program includes Bach Toccata in D minor arranged by Tansman Tschaikovsky Symphony No 6 Pathetique Gretrey Cephalus and Procris Alborada Del Gracioso and Rimsky Korsakov Spanish Capriccio Sielski conducted in Europe and the United States with prior guest appearances including the New York Orchestra and major regional ensembles.

Flunkers Frolic Saturday Night At Denison Oberlin Game

Denison students plan a Frolic in the Men’s Building lobby and auditorium after the basketball game with Oberlin. Jim Duko’s band will play, fireplaces glow, bluebook decorations set a festive mood to ease exam worries. Admission is 60 cents per couple and activity fills the weekend social calendar. Summer job registration urged at the Bureau of Appointments and Rec Hall will stay open along with Y Building hours and symphony records.

Lt Gross New Unit Doctor Seeks Home After War

Lt Sol Gross, newly returned unit doctor from the South and Southwest Pacific, describes jungles and cocoanuts but praises sunrises and sunsets. A Cleve fan native, he holds a BA from Western Reserve University and a MD from the University of Louisville, plans further study at Oberlin, and seeks a resident position in exchange for a room and a dog.

Council Selects Five Officers Till Elections

The council names President Nancy and Treasurer Dave Swartz with Secretary Bill Girouard as interim leaders until elections the last week of March. An Interregnum Council will include Paul Engstrom as president, Mary Lou Scarborough vice president, Mickey Webb secretary, Judy Ginzburg treasurer, and Tuck Gilbert freshman rep. Nominating petitions due March 22 require 25 student signatures.
