Sophomores Lose Narrow Relay Debacle at Warner Gym

In a 63-20 freshmen win and a final sophomores 58-35 victory, Warner gym hosted a meet where a relay miscue cost the sophomores a race. standout performances included Fall winning the mile and half mile, Waterhouse sweeping multiple hurdles and jumps, and Farquhar pacing the 25-yard dash.

Oberlin Business College to Open Winter Term Jan 4 1915

The Oberlin Business College closed its fall term last Friday and will open the winter term on Monday January 4 1915 New classes will be formed across all branches making it a good time for new students to enroll The college may form special classes for college students at the start of the second semester depending on enrollment.

Professor Savage to Address NCAA Meeting on College Athletics

Professor Savage will read a paper before the National Collegiate Athletic Association at its annual meeting in Chicago on December 29. The subject is The Prof ein versus the Educational in College athletics. The NCAA represents 130 institutions nationwide and elects the football rules committee of which Savage is a member. He predicts no major rule changes this year, only possible clarifications.

Christmas Meeting at YWCA Welcomes New Members

The YWCA held a combined Christmas meeting and recognition service in the Inner Hall Sunday evening. New members, dressed in white and bearing lighted candles, entered to a solo rendition of O Little Town of Bethlehem. Cora May Walton welcomed members as Margaret Bennett read prophecies foretelling Christ, followed by a pageant depicting Sargent's Blaze of the Prophets. The president spoke on Administering the Gift, noting the lighted taper symbolizes sharing the gift with the world, before relighting candles and closing with the Song of Light.

Christmas Cheer Visits County Children’s Homes

A Christmas party brightened Dascomb and Pope cottages as 33 and 34 children from the Upson County Children's Home received toys, candy, and rides, with college students guiding games and a visit from Santa Claus. Some children kept presents to attend Sunday school, while Keep cottage girls earlier aided a needy family with shoes, clothing, and dishes.

Annual home meeting in men's building 10

The M C A held its annual home meeting in the Met building lobby with open fire lighting the room. Men sang Alma Mater after informal talks on holiday experiences and Christmas ideals while a vietrola played Heilige Nacht and the event ended early for the evening church service.

Merry Christmas Building Improves During Recess

The Men's building will receive social improvements during the Christmas recess. Added mirrors and washbowls will be installed on the third floor bathrooms while cork matting will be laid in the fourth floor hall. The executive committee has made several changes including rearranging lobby chairs and tables. The new victrola will need more records and people may donate their tired records to the building. The project is partly a gift from the prudent committee and funded by leftover "As It Didn't Happen" money totaling $126. A Mrs. Snattuer, formerly a man, is visiting Oberlin parents.

Oberlin prepares for the January 9 home game with Kenyon as 20 to 30 candidates attend nightly practices in Warner Gym. Football standouts boost depth while several sophomores push for forward posts. An alumni game during holidays is likely to sharpen the squad before the Kenyon visit.

Last Mixer of Term Attracts 200 Men Attendees

The last men’s mixer of the term drew about 200 attendees in the Men's building lobby after the track moot. A relaxed evening featured extemporaneous piano duets, dialect recitations by Mr. Allen, and dramatic selections by a speaker with Mr. Nick Ergon on piano. Light refreshments concluded the event.
