Alessandro Bonci Sings to Enthusiastic Oberlin Audience

Alessandro Bonci of the Metropolitan Opera Company, a tenor of international renown, gave the final concert of Oberlin College’s Artist course in Finney Chapel. He was accompanied by Harold C. Smith. The program featured arias by Giordani, Massenet, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy, MacDowell, Leoncavallo, and Verdi, eliciting enthusiastic recalls and strong praise for Bonci’s brilliant, versatile voice and refined technique.

New Violin Professor Joins Conservatory Faculty

A new teacher joins the conservatory as violin instructor starting January 4. Frank Kohler, concertmaster of the Pittsburg Orchestra and former pupil of Halle, will take Mr Doolitle's classes. Kohler, American from Brie Pennsylvania, studied abroad eight years and led the Pittsburg Orchestra for ten to twelve years. The conservatory hopes for growth with financial backing now in focus.

Lindsey Lectures On Juvenile Court Misfortunes of Mickey

Denver judge Ben B Lindsey spoke at Finney chapel on The Misfortunes of Mickey. He argued causes lie in environment rather than the boy alone and urged better laws and broader juvenile court work. He noted political corruption reaches to the Senate and urged schools churches and homes to better watched and trained youth.

Financial report shows gain and reduced debt for season

The report compares this season with last year’s figures for the thetic Association. It shows a slight surplus applied to the standing debt and a preliminary estimate for the just-completed season indicating a larger surplus. Net profit and debt reductions bring total debt down from 869.00 to about 285.00, with hopes springing the athlete debt near elimination.

Dean Walter Miller Lectures Next Term

Dean Walter Miller of Tulane UniversityNew Orleans will give a three lecture series by the Classical Department. He will discuss Greece and its people, Olympia and the Olympic Games, and recount being robbed during travels while describing his Greek Army captain episode. Lectures arrive January 5 at 7 pm and January 15 at 4 and 8 pm in Sturges Hall. Tickets cost 25 cents.

Wooster Man Wins Rhodes Scholar Title at Oxford Exam

Cornell man Nathanial Schmidt delivered December’s monthly lecture focusing on the Norwegian poet Thien and his teachings. Rollin W. Holbrook, 11, died after illness of his father. Mr and Mrs SR Williams were called home by the illness of Mrs Williams’ father and reached his bedside before his passing. Weller DeGraf, 14, left for Philadelphia Friday to undergo appendicitis surgery.
