College Faces Housing Crunch for 382 Vet Students

With six weeks to the fall term the college seeks emergency dorms for 382 unmarried veterans assigned to temporary FPHA housing. The administration met Representative Walter B. Huber to urge faster construction and explore options if delays persist. Rumors of using the Women’s Old Gym as barracks and delaying term opening circulate, but no final plan is set.

AVC Mass Meeting Adopts Resolution To End Chinese Aid

An AVC Community Forum at Sturges Hall approved a resolution urging the US government to withdraw most Marines from China and halt supplies until a coalition government is formed. Proposed by Professor Allan B. Cole, the plan calls for ending military and economic support except under conditions of inclusive governance. The 4-2 vote followed a two hour discussion with some attendees departing.

Taylor Urges Strict Adherence To Two-Party System

Professor Lloyd W. Taylor of Lorain County Republican Central Committee urged universal two-party activity in American politics. He condemned Democratic patronage and spoils, noted 13 of 25 million Democratic votes tied to patronage, and said Republicans faced pressures that could burst party safety nets, praising Stassen and Taft as leaders who would speak plainly.

Cotton Ball Tomorrow Features Wests Band

The Cotton Ball, last format of the season, presented by Bruce West's band, runs 8 to midnight at Hales Gym with the theme That's what I lie about the South. An intermission party runs during the half hour break with punch served. Decorations aim to surprise dancers as Warmer May Sing Bred Warmer 15 vocalists with the orchestra may perform if a mic and speakers are secured. Tickets go on sale Saturday morning in Peters Court.

Stephens to Lead Final Y Discussion on Children in Home

Dr. Jim Stephens and Dr. Jean Stephens will lead a discussion on Children in the Home this Sunday August 18 at 1 00 pm. The event at 285 West Elm Street is hosted by Y Secretary Bob Rankin and sponsored by the Student Faculty Fellowship Committee as the last in the current series.
