Crowds packed Warner hall last Friday evening for an Edison phonograph recital showing the machine can recreate human voices. Miss Jatanie aforrisey contralto and Miss etsy Lane shepherd soprano led with Walter Chapman pianist and Harold Lyman on sax. Both New York singers offered skilled diction and strong voices though the program favored songs by Car and Vanderpot. overall the demonstration proved convincingly that the Edison device can reproduce voice.
Continued from page one, the show features Head of the Cove by Thomas H Maley, rare charm, and Ve Bert pieces capturing mood through subtle handling. Also present are The Pink Opera Cloak by Alphineus Cole and Head of a Child by Charles A Aiken, among others, in the 46 traveling exhibits of the American Federation of Arts and its broad educational program.
The Oberlin Art Association advertises free admission for members while a 15 cent mission fee applies to others. The exhibition runs daily with hours from 2 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday hours appear as 2 to 4 p.m. only.
Professor Jesse Mack reads a well known paper on Humanism and Education at the Liberal Club. The Sunday afternoon meeting in the society room of the Men's Building at 2:30 will precede the election of officers for the ensuing year.
