Hundreds of soldiers and nearly a thousand citizens gathered in Oakes and Ladder for a one day siege honoring veterans. A large pavilion hosted music, prayers, and speeches by E R Kennedy and local leaders. Miss Kilte Austin recited After the Battle as Colonel Plummer was absent. Afternoon baseball saw Ellendale defeat Oakes 91 to 12.
The city convention elected A. G. Hemenway as chairman and Otis Kirlin as secretary. Delegates chosen include J. M. Given Chr. Gorder A. P. Slocum M. E. Odell M.N. Chamberlin A. G. Hemenway E. Boehmler and D. A. Shuter. A resolution declares opposition to any license for intoxicating liquor or lottery schemes and demands delegates who pledge to oppose such licenses.
North Dakota Editorial Association met in this city last Thursday with limited attendance due to busy political matters. Judge Bennett of Bottineau was named temporary chairman and then elected president, with old state officers re-elected. An adjournment to August 8 at Grand Forks was agreed, and a committee was formed to arrange a trip to Great Falls and Yellowstone Park.

A later ballot choose three more delegates with mixed results and the party considered state-ticket representation, weighing John Richis against G W Lockhart for lieutenant governor and secretary of state.
