Mrs. Marshall visits Duluth while Attorney Jus. Austin of Ellendale and B. F. Roddle return from Minnesota. A mass convention of Scandinavian Republicans meets in Ellendale. Wheat crop prospects worsen with hot winds and dry weather, while flax appears robust. A serious accident injures J. Walker near Ellendale, paralyzing him after a fall. his family and community rally in concern.
A county ball match between Guelph and Oakes drawn 6 to 9 in favor of Oakes. Guelph arrived to play four games. Allaire Ellendale impressed, Huffman Sinclair pitched for the home team, Goodrich starred in the mound, Winkle made a running catch, and Hinkle with Martin turned a double play. If Chisolm and Adame were in town the outcome might differ. Also noted is a Democratic county convention held in Blendale on Saturday July 12 1880 with officers chosen and delegates named to the Grand Forks State convention August 6. Delegates from Oakes listed.

The community invites all to a large Old Soldiers Day event featuring Col. Plummer as orator and Miss Kittie Austin of Ellendale performing. A picnic, singing, music, and a camp celebration are planned to unite veterans and friends in a memorable gathering. Also notes Fritz Meinhardt will run The Dukes Pharmacy in town.
