A large tornado touched down across Monroe Metcalf and Washington counties in southern Kentucky. About fifty houses were demolished and crops suffer heavy losses estimated at 25000 dollars. Tompkinsville James Payne family injured Sam McPherson Jacob Bartlett distillery destroyed Springfield damage 10000 dollars.
Washington reports June 1 balance of 188,478 with total receipts 31,801,507 and payments 3,736,718 leaving 4,664,879 available. another balance shows 42,052, Y18, below national bank deposits. In St Petersburg, a balloon accident near the city suburbs Sunday costs four lives. The craft, large and owned by Count Apraxin, was gas filled.
A statue of Henry Ward Beecher was unveiled at 4 pm in front of Brooklyn City Hall. Frederick Visch Brokaw son of I B Brokaw of New York drowned at Elberon Long Branch while trying to save two bathing girls swept out to sea. Mrs Birch, a servant, and others aided in the rescue effort but Brokaw and one girl did not surface again. Fishermen recovered the child of the girl and Mrs Birch was saved in an exhausted state.

Rothschilds in Paris and English capitalists allied with Marlborough are fueling the pool, with Marlborough set to visit America again to commit substantial capital to the southern states. In a separate note from Dover Ramsgate, Dalton the American swimmer failed to finish a race of 18 miles against Fisher the Englishman, who won after Dalton retired chilled.
