A Friday May 28 benefit at the First Congregational Church Oak Park showcased school choruses led by Giddings plus solos by Clara Conklin Grace Cook and young violinists Mabel and Edith Gates. The program netted about $200 for the Scoville Library. The Derthick club of Austin hosted a May 27 concert at Miss Ida Belle Freeman’s home featuring Weber Invitation to the Dance Gounod arias Balatka Academy pieces and a debut by Miss Eliza Aurelius with praise for Miss Stevens and the Balatka quartet. A planned Austin military band concert is set for June 10 at Fall Park and a River Forest Choral Union report will run next week. Master Robert Sullivan will sing for the Catholic Woman's National League on June 12 at Handel Hall.
