The school system postpones opening from September 11 to September 25 after a board conference and health approval. Principals report September 14, teachers to appear September 18. Quarantine rules require town children to stay home by the 11th if returning for opening.

Albert A. Breese added to local staff Friday morning will serve the East Nutley route previously handled by Gustave Leutigens who moves to Nutley Park Nutley terrace route. The post office closes all day Labor Day with only special delivery parcels delivered.
William J Housby on Holmes Street files a dwelling permit costing 8000 dollars. F B Speer on Prospect Street secures a sun parlor permit valued at 500 dollars.

The Twin Rivers Rubber Company formerly of Akron Ohio has leased part of the White Springs Paper Mill in Kingeland street and took possession Monday. They expect to hire fifty to sixty workers initially to produce rubber gloves tubing and other soft rubber goods. New York capital backs the project.
Joseph Francisco, 20, son of Mr and Mrs Nicholas Francisco of 11 Newark Avenue, was aboard the armored cruiser Memphis when it ran aground in San Domingo Harbor. His parents seek information as reports list missing and injured. A letter dated August 20 was sent to his father. Francisco enlisted in the navy on August 12, 1915.

Harold Richmond an 18 year old son of Field Club steward saved a young woman drowning in the surf at Easthampton last Thursday. He swam out and kept her afloat until life guards arrived as medals from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission are pursued for him.
