Prize Winners At St Marys Lyceum Card Night

The progressive euchre and whist event at St Marys Lyceum on Tuesday yielded multiple prizes. Curtin Wige won first prize in whist with Mrs Riley of Belleville second. Walter Stager took first overall and Daniel Deneen second, with Jon McPherson third. Miss Minnie Beine claimed first lady’s prize, Miss Jusia Deneen second, and Miss Kate Deneen second booby prize.

The Reformed Church Worship Schedule for Sunday

On Sunday the pastor Rev. Wm. Stuart will preach at 11 a.m. on Peter Before and After and at 7:45 p.m. on Who Wants a Little Always Has Enough. Sunday School and Bible Class meet at 9:45 a.m. Sons and Daughters of the King at 7:15 p.m. Prayer Meeting Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Township Board Considers Tennis Court and Tuition Rates

The Nutley Board of Education discussed pupil demand for a campus tennis court but refused due to funds. A request for a tuition rebate for absent pupils during whooping cough was denied. The district plans a nine week readmission rule for recovered students and extends the noon dismissal to 11 50. The superintendent notes higher enrollment and a spring drive for a truant officer. The school year ends June 21 with the new year starting September 9.

Town Council Adjourned Session Reports Budget Talks

The adjourned Town Council meeting was held behind closed doors on Wednesday evening with key town officials present to discuss the town finances the forthcoming budget and the 1907 tax levy.

Second Ward Association Holds Preliminary Meeting

The Second Ward Association met at the Fortnightly Club on Friday April 26. Wm H Parry was elected temporary chairman and J L Miller temporary secretary. The group aims to promote ward interests secure proper public funds and foster economical administration for local improvements and harmonious cooperation. Next regular meeting set for Tuesday evening May at the Fortnightly Club House with permanent officers to be elected.

Epworth League members met Monday at Miss Margery Lichtenstein’s Prospect Street residence for a social after a meeting. Vocal and instrumental music accompanied light refreshments as numerous attendees, including Mr. and Mrs. Percy Latin and many neighbors, enjoyed the evening.

The Entre Nous Whist Club met at Miss Lillian Van Riper’s home on Church Street Monday evening April 28. Suspect Poisoning Kills Dog in Vreeland Avenue Area

A valuable dog owned by Mr. James Turnbull on Vreeland Avenue and Colonial Terrace died after suspected poisoning. The owner offers a reward of 25 for the culprit. Other dogs belonging to Mr. C. M. Woodford and Mr. William Pierson are believed poisoned as well.

Nutley Opens Base Ball Season At Fork Oval

Nutley A C opens its season at the Fork Oval today hosting the Willow A C of Newark in a game of great interest. Linchpin pitcher Joiner is expected to perform well with Hawkins, Young, Blum and Mitchel among the lineup. visiting team includes McCall, Clements and Schleer.
