Burial followed in Passaic Avenue Methodist Cemetery. Day lived in Nutley thirty years and was born in Camptown now Irvington. He overcame a disability walking on his knees with crutches and held many local posts including postmaster and justice of the peace. He was known for religious work and wrote an autobiography. his widow plans publication.
