Royal Arcanum Day Observed With Flag Display

On June 23 the twenty seventh anniversary of the Royal Arcanum will be observed. The order is said to have more than 20 000 members in this state with nearly 200 attached to Kempton Council. Grand Regent Washburne asks all members to display an American flag from home or business rain or shine per Regent Ackerman.

Nutley Council Briefs Talk With Telephone Company

A special Nutley Town Council session focused on the New York and New Jersey Telephone Company delays in supplying phones. Superintendent McCullough outlined plans for joint use of poles, conduit expansion, and steps to reach Prospect Heights, with a 30 day timeframe for subcriber projections and a decision to delay legal action pending that period.

Town Council Considers Elm Place Sidewalks and Tree Save

The chairman noted no citizens arrived for a meeting despite promises. William J. Kinsley entered late and will attend July 13. A bug harming maple trees prompted a sidewalk committee investigation while Elm Place sidewalks must keep usual width to spare trees. Back taxes on Bloomfield Avenue lands to be apportioned by petition and search, as usual.

Death of Miss Hanna at 24 in Highfield land

Miss Mabel A. Hanna daughter of Mrs. Charles Ira Smith of Highfield land and sister of Mr. Edward Hanna died last week from pneumonia at age 24. Funeral was held Sunday at her mother's home and the interment was at Rye. Kempton Council passed condolences to Mr. Hanna on his sister's death.

Miss Carter Marries Dr George A Davies at Home

Miss Hila Bedford Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Carter of Terrace avenue, wed Dr. George A. Davies of Warren Pennsylvania. Rev L R Dyott of Brooklyn and Rev Dr J W Smith of Warren officiated. About 150 guests attended and gifts were given. The couple will reside at 109 Pennsylvania Avenue Warren Pa after a wedding tour.

Nutley A C suffered a 5 to 3 defeat to Clifton A C with Cushman pitching for the Newark League reserve side. Nutley’s hits were limited to a two run single by Dave Bishop and a three bagger by Hawkins, while Mutch, Joiner and Blum excelled in defense. Kempton Council hosted a large Monday evening gathering with delegations from Seth Boyden and Woodside Councils. The Relief's meeting named Henry A. Gonnolly's nine-year term concluded with Abram Blum elected to fill the vacancy. A board of visitors from Nutley fire groups was chosen, and delegates to the Relief State meeting in Atlantic City were Henry H. Stager J. Vosseler and W. G. Kier. Alternates are President M. R. Mutley Girl In River Horror

A 15 year old girl LouiseEhling was aboard the General Slocum when the steamboat burned and sank near Nutley avenue and River Road. She jumped overboard with her baby in arms as panic rose and was rescued by a nearby boat and taken to a hospital. Independence Day will be the next holiday.
