First Vincent Church Men’s Association Banquet Celebrated

The inaugural banquet of the Men’s Association of Vincent Church drew over 130 attendees. Speakers shared Irish stories over a German song, led by toastmaster Arthur Dickinson, with Rev. Dr. Ralph B. Army, Mayor Julian A. Gregory, and Rev. Charles H. Powers among those addressing civic faith and municipal governance.

18Yearold burglar seeks gun after Nutley crime spree

Alvin Bowers, 18, of St Mary's place, broke into Avondale Station twice and smashed a window each time seeking a revolver. He left behind a slip and took twenty four cents and tickets. Police traced the break in to him, and he faced Juvenile Court with his father.

Park School Exhibit Draws Large Crowds In Three Schools

The Park School, Yantucan, and Washington School pupils displayed drawing, needlework, manual training, and English work to about 600 attendees. The auditorium hosted dramatic pieces and musical numbers, with exhibits lining walls and a final performance by Miss Hallock continuing yesterday and last night before closing this afternoon.

Women’s Club Closes Year With Recitals and Cards

Mrs Perle Evans Barber of New York recited four selections at the monthly Woman's Club meeting in Chestnut street clubhouse. Miss Elizabeth Prout played piano solos. It was the last meeting of the year and little business was discussed besides planning a safe Fourth celebration. Death of Alfred Wassall longtime Nutley Jeweller

Alfred Wassall age seventy one died Thursday after months of illness at Church Street. Born in Birmingham England he came to the United States thirty years ago settling in Nutley. He was a jeweller in Newark for many years and helped organize St Pauls Congregational Church where he served as deacon for twenty years. Surviving are his wife three children Florence Badger Sidney Wassall of Nutley and Alfred A Wassall of Hartford Conn. Funeral services were private with Rev duit of St Pauls Church officiating.
