Fly Traps by Boys Bring Home Economics Fame
Local youths at a pre vocational school on Church Street under instructor F S Collier craft wire mesh fly traps. More than a hundred orders have been placed by townspeople via the Home Economics section of the Woman's Club. The trap uses a wire box and inverted cone baited to lure flies into the net, with a Yale professor's unpatented design aiding public use. The invention, exhibited at the Museum of Natural History, is praised for reducing breeding by catching early flies around stables and other fly-prone areas.
