End of School Year Activities and Graduations
The Grammar Department will graduate a class of 103 the largest in its history. The High School graduating class will number twenty four, a new record. Rifle Club to Begin Indoor Practice Soon
The Rifle Club plans indoor training at the Hotel Feurbach using old alleys being fitted for shooting with about a dozen 22 calibre Winchester rifles. The Home Defense League members are expected to join. Government plans to supply Krag rifles may take months, so the Winchesters will suffice for now. Ninth annual Park School field day yields prize tally
The ninth annual track meet on the Park School campus drew about 500 competitors. Bernard McGinnity led high school wins with four first places. Phillip Redmond won the senior grammer school 100-yard dash and running high jump and starred in the 880-yard relay. Walter Woodford dominated intermediate events including the 75-yard dash and 120-yard hurdles. Judges and timers from local schools and officials oversaw events, while plans for a 220-yard straightaway were urged to prevent relay collisions.
