National Holiday Celebrated with Salute and Games

The Naval Brigade of the Methodist Episcopal Church led a flag raising at Towns Hall at seven, firing a ten gun salute and performing artillery drills. Baseball dominated Park Grounds with tennis and automobiling also popular, and evening fireworks brightened the town.

Hillside Pleasure Park Set For Wild West Show Features

Hillside Pleasure Park announces a revised program for next week with a mile chariot race featuring gen tem and lady drivers. Olive Swan leads a three-horse team on each vehicle. The show includes a New York aerial act, high school and high jumping horses, and a Wild West statue by cowboy and cowgirl performers. Professor Archie Griffen will make a balloon ascent tomorrow and again Wednesday night. A baby show and decorated carriage parade on July 17 already has over two hundred entries. L. M. Rich directs the event with free park concerts tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Baby Show at Electric Park Set for Newark This Month

Electric Park on South Orange Avenue in Newark will host one of the largest baby shows in the United States this month. Entries are limited to babies born in or living in New Jersey, with outside entrants allowed only in the homely class. Prizes range from complete baby outfits to silver cups, judged by a physician, artists, photographers, and three women involved with babies or kindergartens. All entrants must pass a physical on the day of the show by Dr. Satterer.
