Mrs Hay dies after nineteen year invalid spell
Mrs Sarah Anna Kingsland wife of James R Hay died at her Enclosure home after a long illness begun by a tragedy in 1900 when her son Philip Kingsland Hay drowned at Princeton. She bore the illness with extraordinary fortitude and helped found Grace Church and the Field Club in Nutley. Surviving are her husband and two daughters in Texas and New Jersey.

Captain Adams Dead in War Earns D.S.C.
Mrs. Katherine Adams of the Crockett House received word from the War Department that her son Captain John Carver Adams earned the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously for extraordinary heroism in action at Chateau Thierry on July 15. He was 22 when killed at the second Battle of the Marne on July 25. Adams joined the militia in Portland at 18, studied at Fort Leavenworth, and rose from lieutenant to captain in the 30th Infantry before his death in May.
