Thousands pour into Viet battle near Cambodia border
Thousands of American and South Vietnamese troops moved toward the Cambodian border area eighty miles northwest of Saigon in a major counteroffensive against three North Vietnamese divisions. Massive air support from B52 bombers and jet fighters accompanied the operation, seen by military men as one of the war's potential pitched battles. State Eyes New Park Fees
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources may set new fees for swimming picnicking and overnight lodges if a $1.8 million budget cut is not restored by the General Assembly. Director William Nye warned that without new revenue the state may close costly parks or run most parks with limited staff. Publisher Herm Schaafsma Dies After Sudden Stroke
Herm Schaafsma publisher of the Norwalk Reflector died of a stroke at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after collapsing at home following a bridge game with his wife Fayrene. He was 61, lived in Norwalk, and had 13 years as publisher after moving from Grand Haven. He had deep civic and church involvement and leaves three daughters, two grandchildren, his mother, four sisters, and his wife. Funeral services are planned, with memorials to charity.
