Hopkins Could Be Subject To Air Disaster Like San Diego
Cleveland officials and pilots warn that the air traffic mix over Hopkins International could produce a disaster similar to the San Diego crash. First Officer Vince Swinney of United, ALPA vice chairman, cites heavy jets and training aircraft sharing runways as a key risk and proposes corridors or restricted zones to separate traffic. He notes San Diego’s jet and light-plane collision killed many and urges action to prevent a repeat at Cleveland.
