HMHA to apply for funds to build the first turn key low income housing in New London and Willard with 30 elderly and 25 family units in New London and 50 elderly and 40 family units in Willard.
Athens Ohio residents press 1960 city rule that limits households to three roomers or boarders. The eight year old regulation could force about 300 Ohio University students to seek off campus housing as some residents push for enforcement amid claims of as many as 15 student roomers in triple capacity homes.
In Louisville Nixon denounces Humphrey's proposal for a non televised debate and says he would only debate on TV if Wallace is excluded. He argues Congress must pass rules before any TV format without third party candidates. A top adviser notes Wallace could threaten Nixon more than Humphrey.
Zsa Zsa Gabor and Chicago Cubs manager Leo Durocher face a $1 million defamation-like suit alleging the actress and Ramco Transmission Co used Durocher's name beyond consent. Gabor reportedly left for London after visiting Chicago where the case arose.
Chrysler Corp cut its average price rise for 1969 to 52 dollars per car, down from 84 dollars. The move follows public White House criticism and mirrors actions by Ford and GM who earlier announced smaller increases, marking the third consecutive year Chrysler leads in setting higher prices before trimming them.

Lyme Church hosts a Meet the Candidates night with Huron County officials and state representative hopefuls Mrs Ethel Swanbeck and Edward W Schenk. Ed Selfe to preside as master of ceremony inviting all Huron County voters. Also Norwalk Chamber of Commerce opens six director seats across three categories with Oct 5 balloting. Two accidents were reported to city police on East Main Street this morning.
UPI reports Sen. Eugene J. McCarthy in New York after a Riviera vacation offering sharp views on Humphrey Wallace and Nixon. He notes the race feels mixed and says he will speak again after October 8 in New York City.
A southbound car driven by Juanita Long 48 of Columbus veered off State Highway 269 near Bellevue in Erie County Thursday night. Long died at Bellevue Hospital while passenger David L. Ball 28 of Newark died 15 minutes after arrival. Two others from Columbus were treated for injuries.
UPI reports Sen Thruston Morton cautions George Wallace may pose a greater threat to Nixon than Humphrey but not enough to trigger attacks. In Alabama Wallace denies romance rumors about Ja Neen Welch who claims interest in marriage while Wallace aides dismiss the claims as false. Welch says she foresees a presidential future and notes she is single, with Wallace's camp offering no comment.
Chief Ernest L. Owens of Put-In-Bay, Ohio resigns effective Tuesday citing wine drinking by teenagers as the main cause. He notes that summer crowds bring disorder and says youths become obscene and boastful after consuming alcohol. The July Fourth period saw hundreds of college-age visitors vandalize Lonz Winery walls.
