Dunkirk New York man Harry L Hallquist age 38 died by hanging in Monroeville jail after 9 p m Saturday. He had been arrested for public intoxication and an open container after police found liquor in his car near the Rts 20 99 intersection. Hallquist worked as a mechanic in Fort Wayne Indiana and was travelling to Dunkirk to join his wife and eight children. His 17 year old son Allen accompanied him at the arrest but was not held. Hallquist’s body was found during a 10 15 p m check and was taken to Drake Funeral Home then to his home.
Norwalk resident and former Gulf Oil vice president B P Newton will fund a two story Greek Revival addition to the Milan Museum. The gift includes a maintenance trust and a bronze plaque honoring his late wife Edna.
The first case under Norwalk's junk ordinance will be heard tonight by Mayor Harold Finch. George Kilbany, 60, of 27 Marion Drive, is charged with violating the ordinance adopted June 7. Kilbany’s property at 58 N. West St. is cited as the violation, with the complaint signed by Robert Kerr, 54N. West St. Police Chief L C Hilson said he notified Kilbany on July 22 that he had 60 days to comply. the period ended Saturday.
The fifth annual Hur on County Sheriff's Ball will be held October 22 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the National Guard Armory on Old Rt. 20 in Norwalk. Music by the Commodores. Tickets available at the door.
The Sixth District Court of Appeals in Nor walk heard two post conviction appeals in a single morning. Kenneth Boggs seeks relief from a 1961 life sentence for murdering his estranged wife Virginia on October 13, 1961, while Leroy Oney challenges an incest conviction. Boggs argues the post conviction review was inadequate and demanded a formal hearing. the state defends the judge’s record review as sufficient. Oney’s lawyer contends Oney did not clearly understand he would receive court appointed counsel, noting repeated assurances of representation. The court typically takes several weeks to issue rulings.
Akron UPI reports the Ohio Association of Real Estate Boards plans a resolution on Ohio open housing law as about 1,200 realtors gathered for the association's annual convention amid rumors of efforts to repeal the state measure following a congressional defeat.

Gerald Leon Flournoy 26 of 1802 Central Ave Sandusky implicated but not located. Charges include breaking and entering and grand larceny. grand jury to hear evidence Wednesday.
