Milan Names Gary Limbird Chief of Police
Gary Limbird was named Milan police chief by the Village Council on Tuesday night and will begin a six month probationary period October 1. Limbird has served part time on the force since 1972 and worked at the Lorain Ford Plant security group. He previously led Berlin Heights police from 1964 to 1967 and served with the Erie County Sheriff’s Department from 1967 to 1972. He and wife Margaret live in Berlin Heights and he will not be required to reside in Milan until permanent appointment. Council also wrestled over naming a replacement for resigning councilman David Clyde, with a series of motions and tabling attempts failing to reach a quick decision.
